What does it look like to work and lead from a position of strength? In a culture where we have been programmed to focus on improving our weaknesses, many organizations are turning toward competency-based development to identify and develop the right leaders and build successful teams. A 30-year Gallup research study on this approach, based on the work of Dr. Donald O. Clifton, resulted in the The Clifton Strengths Finder assessment that has captured global attention over the last decade. Over 7 million people have read StrengthsFinder 2.0 and/or taken the Strengths Finder assessment in order to identify their core strengths. Strengths Finder is based on the principle that people are born with a certain set of natural strengths and talents and that most of the time, people spend more time focusing on fixing their shortcomings than they do honing and directing their core strengths. StrengthsFinder research has identified 34 strength themes on the human competency spectrum that fall into four distinct domains (Executing, Thinking, Impacting, and Relating).
Registrants for this workshop will be directed to the StrengthsFinder assessment site prior to the event to purchase an activation code and take the assessment. You can opt to receive a report of only your top 5 strengths ($9.99) or a breakdown of your results across all 34 strengths ($89.99). Activation code purchase is separate from workshop registration, is paid directly to the Gallup Strength Center, and although it is not required to participate in this workshop, registrants are strongly encouraged to pay for the minimum assessment to get the most out of the workshop itself.
The workshop is designed to provide an overview of the StrengthsFinder philosophy, an explanation of the core domains, an outline of the 34 strength themes, and insight and direction on how to interpret your own assessment results. A discussion around how organizational leaders and recruiters should be using competency-based assessment tools will also be included. Attendees should bring their StrengthsFinder assessment reports with them for this workshop.
